The United States reached peak powerball fever in the build up to the $1.6 Billion draw with shops over crowded with frenzied punters hoping to cash in on such a huge sum. Many watched with bated breath when the following numbers came in- 4, 8, 19, 27 and 34, drawn from five white balls, and 10 as the so-called Powerball number on a red ball. The chances of hitting those numbers were roughly one in 292 million.
Three lucky winners did prevail despite those unbelievably long shot odds and the $1.6 Billion jackpot will be split three-ways, to winners in California, Tennessee and Florida. That is a life changing $528 million each!
A California Lottery spokesman, Russ Lopez, exclaimed, “I think we can all live on $528 million, don’t you think?” As of now, none of the winners have come forward. Suffice to say the three will be lawyering up and finding accountants who may be able to advise them on how to handle such a huge sum.
The 7-11 in Chino Hills, California where one of the three tickets were sold, saw the owner receive a bonus check for $1 million. Once the three winners come forward, they can choose to receive their payment in one lump sum, or in annual installments over 29 years.
