The race is on to acquire Bwin.party. The story picks up from our May 18th 2015 article as GVC Holdings Plc confirmed last Thursday that they had bid £900 Million ($1.39 Billion) to takeover gambling rival Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment Plc. The £900 would be comprised of cash and shares worth 110 pence per share. The deal would be jointly financed by GVC Holdings and Amaya.

As of last week 888 Holdings, who had heated up the takeover discussion back in May, had declined to comment on a counter-bid. Over the weekend, however, talk has heated up that 888 will try to come to an agreement with Bwin to accept a counter-offer and have arranged a meeting this week to further discuss.

Who will it be, GVC or 888 Holdings? The acquisition discussions of Bwin.party has gone on since November of 2014 so we eagerly await the winner of this two horse race.
