Calvin Ayre Foundation Helping out the Devastated Island of Barbuda

Calvin Ayre, head of the Calvin Ayre Foundation, is challenging the online gambling industry and the Bitcoin community to help the residents of the island of Barbuda get up on their feet after the devastation brought by category 5 Hurricane Irma.

According to Gaston Browne, Prime Mister of Antigua and Barbuda, the 300 km/hr. hurricane, destroyed 95% of the Barbuda’s structures, displacing its entire population of over 1,600 who have evacuated to nearby Antigua.

Barbuda is home to Calvin Ayre. It was, together with Antigua, the center point of the online gambling industry before the US anti-online gambling regulations took effect. Ayre wishes to rebuild the island and give it back to its people through spearheading a charity foundation. He promised to match any contribution up to a million US dollars. This means that a donation of $100 will automatically be considered as $200.

It seems that there are no major relief organizations helping out the people of Barbuda. The Calvin Ayre Foundation is coordinating with the local government to facilitate relief in terms of emergency supplies including tents.

Donations

Donations can be coursed through the foundations website. Antigua and Barbuda’s Consulate General has launched the Go Fundme page for donations. Red Cross is also accepting donations through Google Play and iOS apps for ticketing events. The donated fund will be used to provide food, water, baby formula, clothing, medicine and construction materials.

For those who wish to donate using cryptocurrency, the following addresses are provided.
